Thank You to the Supporters of the 2008
Bio Sci Staff Appreciation Luncheon

This summer the School of Biological Sciences held our annual Staff Appreciation Luncheon for all of our classified staff. We decided on an Ancient Greco-Roman theme, and it turned out wonderfully. The luncheon was a huge hit and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves immensely. The School of Biological Sciences would like to express our thanks to everyone who helped make this luncheon a success. We would also like to once again thank our staff for making the School of Biological Sciences a success.

Ultimately, there were two factors that made this luncheon so successful:

Clockwork Girl @ Extra Sequential!

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

Arcana is Canada’s biggest comic book publisher. This is due to the very busy founder, and writer, Sean O’Reilly’s emphasis on quality and diversity. And also charity. Arcana has been a regular participant in Free Comic Book Day since their inception and have also donated many comics to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. Clockwork Girl, written by O’Reilly, is perhaps the company’s biggest hit.

The Gwaii HC Featured In Previews Staff Picks!

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

When I was a little boy, I wanted so desperately to be a Disney animator. There was just something about those adorable characters, with their giant eyes and goofy personalities — I wanted to draw them all the time. Well, at least until that fateful day in high school when I got beaten to a bloody pulp for wearing a Beauty and the Beast t-shirt. Thankfully, I only lost two teeth. I’d have lost more if they’d found the Little Mermaid training bra underneath/

But thanks to Arcana Studio’s The Gwaii, I’m finally able to move past my emotional scarring and appreciate cute woodland creatures all over again! Written by Arcana Studio founder, Sean O’Reilly, and whimsically illustrated by Pedro Del Gado, this heartwarming story follows a courageous young Bigfoot’s journey through the Canadian wilderness, confronting fearsome creatures along the way. It’s just the kind of kid-friendly fare that can rekindle the childlike wonder in readers young and old.

I’ll tell you, I wish I had The Gwaii back when I was a kid. Its durable hardcover exterior probably could’ve deflected a good 50% of those kidney punches and groin kicks.
