DMTNT review @ Jazma Online!

Friday, November 28th, 2008

The setting and atmosphere is perfect for this tale of pirates. The skull moon has to be seen to be believed. It is beautifully drawn with an eerie touch.

Captain Kidd is a blood thirsty pirate. He is evil. A killer for sure. His raids on ships leave none alive. Mrr. Kibble his first mate may be even more of a scoundral them him.

The art is dark with lots of black coloring. The pirates do look authentic. The rough seas scenes are wonderfully illustrated.
Captain Blackbeard with his first mate Mister Klump is also a man of evil ways. The most famous of pirates all seem to be within the pages of this comic.

MTV’s Splash Page talks GearHead!

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

Hollywood’s comic book crush has churned out its share of movie options, but for the “Gearhead” creative team of writer Dennis Hopeless and artist Kevin Mellon, lightning’s struck twice.

“Gearhead” made headlines this week with the announcement that it had been picked up by “Incredible Hulk” and “Punisher: War Zone” producer Gale Anne Hurd’s Valhalla Motion Pictures. This marks the second time the property has been optioned in less than two years — the first deal with Toronto-based Darius Films, expired this past summer.

The four-issue “Gearhead” miniseries through Arcana Comics follows mechanic bombshell Shelby as she seeks her destiny on the outskirts of a super hero-imposed utopia. Along the way she discovers a heritage she never knew and, among other adventurous activities, takes up beating bad guys with a giant wrench.

Hopeless and Mellon said that although Darius had some great ideas on how to adapt the concept to the big screen, ultimately Valhalla’s resources and super hero experience won them over.

Comic Monsters Reviews Gauze #1

Friday, November 21st, 2008

Gauze is a slasher fan’s wet dream. Don’t get me wrong, this tale is not just about blood and guts, there is also an interesting plot. We are sort of flung into the middle of the story, which makes it interesting. The first issue will leave the reader wanting more and counting the days until the second issue arrives. If you like Michael, Jason or Freddy, you will LOVE Gauze!
